Do FEMA courses count as college credits? ›

Credits earned through FEMA/EMI courses can be used to fulfill general electives only, and will not be considered liberal arts credits. NOTE: Several of the Independent Study courses are eligible for one college credit, while others require a combination of courses to be taken in order to obtain the one credit.

How to take a FEMA Incident Command Course: You should allow 2 to 4 hours to take one of these courses.

Course materials are available at: 2. To receive a “certificate of completion”, students must take the 25 multiple choice posttest, submit an answer sheet to EMI's Independent Study Office and score 75% on the test. There are two ways to take the test.

Candidates who do not pass may re-test at any time. Test fees are re-assessed on re- tests and proctors are required. Candidates who do not pass a Level II or Level III exam should contact NIMS staff for special instructions before re-testing.

Two-Step Process:

Use the FCC Course List to review the FEMA courses that are eligible for college credit. Submit the Credit Conversion Request Form to earn college credit for your FEMA course completions.

Associate degrees are usually 60 credits or around 20 courses. This degree usually takes two years to complete if you're a full-time student.

If you actually read through the material you can answer the questions easily. If you get stuck, its an "open book" exam, so you can go back to reference the material to refresh your memory.

In particulat the FEMA Professional Developement Series or PDS is a requirement for a growing number of jobs such as Firefighter, Police, Emergency Management, and EMS.

Is the NIMS test hard? ›

By passing the NIMS credentialing exam you will earn a valuable and portable credential. Because the exam is tough, you will have the satisfaction of proving to yourself and others that you have reached a level of competency accept nationally.

This course should take approximately 3.5 hours to complete. To help you keep track of your place within the course, the current lesson title will be displayed in the center of each screen. In addition, a Lesson List will be presented at the beginning and end of each lesson.

If you retake a course to refresh your skills, you may retake the exam however, our system will not re-score the exam and the original date of completion will always appear on your certificate for the course and the date cannot be changed.

Remember: Your FEMA certifications do NOT expire! According to FEMA, “ICS 100, Introduction to the Incident Command System, introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training.

Is there a waiting period before I can retake an online test? Between the first and second attempt, no. The third attempt and each following attempt must be unlocked by NIMS staff, and only after a sixty day waiting period.
